Atlanta, GA — In partnership with Gwinnett County Public Library, Asian Americans Advancing Justice-Atlanta is hosting a free Citizenship Workshop on September 30, 2022. Our Workshop commemorates Constitution Day and Citizenship Day, honoring the enduring contributions made by immigrants to the growth and success of the United States.

According to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), although about 9 million folks in the U.S. are eligible for citizenship, fewer than 1 million apply each year. Fortunately, Georgia ranks as one of the top 10 states for approved citizenship applications. Since the entire citizenship process can take more than a year, Advancing Justice-Atlanta encourages our communities to utilize their voice, maximize their rights, and start the naturalization process as soon as they become eligible to do so.

“U.S. Citizenship comes with many benefits, including the right to vote, a U.S. passport, the opportunity to run for public office, access to more public benefits, and a better process to petition for family members,” says Palmer Lawrence, Director of Legal Services at Asian Americans Advancing Justice-Atlanta. “U.S. Citizenship gives our communities the chance to make an impact on the place they call home. We will have lawyers and trained volunteers at the free citizenship workshop to review applications, and answer any questions. We are committed to connecting lawful permanent residents (LPRs) with trusted legal assistance and critical information that demystifies the naturalization process.”

For applicants:

Appointments are required and registration will close on September 26th.  All applicants must be pre-screened and will begin form(s) preparation prior to the day of the Workshop.
