The Future of Voting: A Profile of Asian American and Pacific Islander Voters in Georgia
Published by Asian Americans Advancing Justice-Atlanta and Asian American Advocacy Fund, August 2022.
During the 2020 General Elections and 2021 Senate Runoff Elections, the country was forced to recognize the power of the Asian American vote in the battleground state of Georgia. Asian American voters in Georgia were the margin of victory in deciding the country’s president and Senate majority against the backdrop of a global pandemic and the centering of the Black Lives Matter uprisings ignited by George Floyd’s murder.
This unprecedented level of civic and voter engagement by Asian American voters was the result of years of organizing, power building, and coalition building by Asian American and POC organizers, along with other progressive partners in Georgia and the South. Asian Americans Advancing Justice-Atlanta (Advancing Justice-Atlanta) and the Asian American Advocacy Fund (AAAF) were at the forefront of these elections and the years prior building the foundation for these wins.
Co-published by Advancing Justice-Atlanta and Asian American Advocacy Fund, The Future of Voting: Asian American and Pacific Islander Voters in Georgia highlights Asian American and Pacific Islander voter demographics, trends, strategies, and community partnerships that led to Georgia’s new voting power.
