Congrats to our 2014 Community Champions Awardees!


Atlanta, GA, September 5, 2014 — We are so happy to announce the recipients of our Community Champions Awards this year. We will be honoring Ms. Le Dam Doan with our Community Champions Lifetime Award for her long-time dedication to serving the Asian immigrant and refugee communities both here and in California. Judge Meng Lim will receive the Community Champions Award for his historic win this year, becoming the first Asian American -- and Cambodian refugee -- elected to the Superior Court in Georgia. Mr. Andy Kim, current President of the U.S. Southeast Korean American Chamber of Commerce, is being recognized with the Community Champions Award for his research and work to create a demographic report on the Korean American community in Atlanta. Last but not least, Mr. Baik Kim, whose leadership in the Korean community in Atlanta most recently led to the the building of the new Korean American Cultural Center in Norcross, will be commended with our Community Champions Award.

GET REGISTERED! Voter Registration Blitz Tomorrow at 13 Locations

As part of Asian American Legal Advocacy Center’s (AALAC) annual campaign to register AAPI voters, we will be conducting our second voter registration blitz tomorrow from 1:00-5:00PM at the following thirteen locations in Duluth, Peachtree Corners, Norcross, Doraville, Chamblee and Clarkston: 1) North Dekalb Mall, 2) South Asian Mart, 3) Thriftown, 4) ASSI – Duluth, 5) Great Wall Supermarket, 6) Nam Dae Mun – Duluth, 7) H-Mart – Duluth, 8) MegaMart, 9) Global Mall, 10) Hong Kong Supermarket, 11) Nam Dae Mun – Norcross, 12) Canton House and 13) H-Mart Doraville. Voter registration at Hong Kong Supermarket will resume at 6:00PM during Vietnamese-American Community of Georgia's Mid-Autumn Festival. A Google map of the voter registration locations is available here. Be sure to stop by to register or pledge to vote! Words of encouragement to our wonderful mini-grantees who will be manning the voter registration tables are also welcome.
