Atlanta, GA, February 26, 2018 — Atlanta, GA - Asian Americans Advancing Justice – Atlanta, along with Coalition of Refugee Service Agencies, GALEO, Latin American Association, and Feminist Women's Health Center is holding a rally on February 26, 2018 at the Central Presbyterian Church (201 Washington St. SW, Atlanta, GA 30303) in front of Georgia State Capitol to remind legislators the harm and devastating impact anti-immigrant bills have on our immigrant communities.
Georgia State legislator has put forth a slew of anti-immigrant legislation and advocacy organizations will be gathering to voice against bills that harms our families, our state's economy, and trust in law enforcement. Especially bills such as SB 452, a bill that would make local law enforcement agencies communicate with ICE if they have arrested an undocumented individual. In addition, under this bill prosecutors and the courts will be able to inquire about the immigration status of the individual, which could factor into sentencing and parole decisions. These types of bills only make our neighborhoods less safe and criminalize immigrant communities.
